Volunteer Academy

Laramie County Fire District #1 will be starting its Recruit Academy for all new recruits as well as qualified firefighters from other fire departments in the area.

The next testing process starts August 26th, 2023. If interested, contact Engineer Tarango at rtarango@lcfd1.com

Fire people

The recruit academy will consist of all didactic lessons and practical hands on training that will conclude with the recruit obtaining the following certifications:

  • Wyoming Firefighter I
  • Wyoming Firefighter II (Optional at recruits request and class availability)
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness
  • Hazardous Materials Operations
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
  • S130, S190, Red Card
  • Wildland Firefighter II

In order for firefighters from other departments to attend the LCFD #1 recruit academy they must first obtain written permission from their respective departments stating that they are allowed to attend the academy.

Furthermore, they must also provide their own PPE which includes the following;

  • NFPA Compliant Structural Firefighting Helmet
  • NFPA Compliant Structural Firefighting Flash Hood
  • NFPA Compliant Structural Firefighting Coat
  • NFPA Compliant Structural Firefighting Pants
  • NFPA Compliant Structural Firefighting Boots
  • NFPA Compliant Structural Firefighting Gloves
  • NFPA Compliant Safety Glasses (Primary & Secondary)
  • NFPA Compliant Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (With Mask and Bottle)
